Today we talk about shortcuts. Not the shortcuts your grandpa would take while driving you home from school, that would inevitably get you lost, but keyboard shortcuts on your computer.
There are hundreds of keyboard shortcuts that you can learn to efficiently use your computer and software, but we are just going to cover a few of the basics here.
CTRL + C = Copies text or files (almost anything you have selected) to the clipboard
CTRL + V = Pastes whatever you have copied to the clipboard to the cursor location
CTRL + P = Loads the Print dialog
CTRL + S = Saves your work
Shift + Delete = Bypasses the recycle/trash bin and permanently deletes (use caution with this one)
I use the copy / paste shortcuts on a daily basis, and believe they are the most important to learn and use. First you highlight something, for example an email address from an email. Then you press the CTRL (Control) key and the letter “C” at the same time. This copies whatever is selected to the clipboard. Now you move your cursor to where you want the copied address to be placed, and press CTRL and the letter “V” at the same time. Viola the email address is copied with just two shortcuts.
Be sure to learn and use keyboard shortcuts to save time while using your computer.
